Undergraduate Program

The ORFE Department is currently the largest of the six undergraduate concentrations within Princeton's School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), accounting for approximately 30% of all undergraduate engineers. Enrollment in ORFE courses, likewise, have been increasing, with a larger amount of interest in ORFE courses from across concentrators in other departments at Princeton. Students of many disciplines are drawn to ORFE because of the strong fundamental education in mathematical modeling they will receive, opening careers in a broad range of application areas. The majority of our students move into careers in management consulting and finance, drawing on a strong technical education. Students with good math skills and an interest in obtaining a deeper education in these tools have progressed to Ph.D. programs in operations research, opening careers in academia as well as more specialized positions in consulting firms and industry. A number of students will make their way into software development companies, usually as software project managers.
